Support your local Equine Rescue organization - thousands of horses are abused and starved each year - a few of the lucky ones get rescued. Most of these organizations are in dire need of financial assistance for hay, vet care, and equipment. Find your local organization and support a horse that needs help. Here are links to a few: Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch - The Ranch of Rescued Dreams - An amazing equine rescue organization that brings together broken horses and broken children - one child paired with one teacher and one horse every time, and 100% free of charge to any child that needs their special form of therapy. You can read more about their story in the books Hope Rising and Bridge Called Hope. I highly recommend both of these books and can say that I cried all the way through both of them. Safe Haven Equine Rescue - Located in Northeast Texas, this equine rescue organization fosters and adopts out horses that need rehabilitation. Many of their rescues are starving and abused horses that are brought to them through local law enforcement agencies. Horse Feathers Equine Rescue - Located in Oklahoma. They need help with hay and feed for the horses they have recently taken in. |
